Strangely enough, when you start reading the article, Thomaz is not presented as men usually are, or people with degrees are, for instance, by mentioning she’s an expert in whatever… So here’s what I found here

Andrea Thomaz is an associate professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin and holds an adjunct position at Georgia Tech.

She joined Texas ECE in January 2016 after serving as an associate professor in the School of Interactive Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2007-2016. Her research aims to computationally model mechanisms of human social learning in order to build social robots and other machines that are intuitive for everyday people to teach. She received an NSF CAREER award in 2010 and an Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award in 2008. She was named to Popular Science magazine’s Brilliant 10 List in 2012. In 2009, she was named to the MIT Tech Review Top Young Innovators Under 35.
